  1. ONLINE BIBLE MASTERS

  4. All the tools and data are supplied for you to create master disks
  5. for distributing the Online Bible.

  7. TOOLS

  10. COPYQM is a general purpose copy program used to quickly replicate disks.
  11. The program and documentation is located in the subdirectory
  12. \OLB\MASTERS\COPYQM.  FORMATQM is a general purpose disk formatting
  13. program.  The program and documentation is located in the subdirectory
  14. \OLB\MASTERS\FORMATQM.  In general here is how we create 3 1/2 inch HD
  15. disks.

  17. a) We format all our disks when we receive them using FORMATQM.
  18.  
  19.     e.g.  formatqm a:
  20.  
  21. b) These disks are left to "age" for one month before we use them. We
  22.    have found that the format process rejects .2 per cent of the disks.
  23.    However, after one month about .4 per cent of the disks have lost
  24.    their format! We were using only 75 per cent clip disks and still had
  25.    the problem. This procedure almost eliminated bad disks.

  27. c) The COPYQM 3 1/2 HD masters are stored in the directory
  28.    \OLB\MASTERS\IMAGES. To create copies on preformatted disks
  29.    do the following. If your CD-ROM is drive letter Z then:
  30.  
  31.         copyqm a: p=z:\olb\masters\images\install.001 sm ret=0 o=x
  32.  
  33.    "a:"    means that the copies are created on the A drive.
  34.    "p=z:\olb\masters\images\install.001" means that copies of the
  35.            install disk (part number 001) are to be copied.
  36.    "sm"    means that you are using preformatted disks.
  37.    "ret=0" means that all retries are suppressed.
  38.    "o=x"   means that extended memory is used to hold the disks master
  39.            during the coping process.

  43. Both COPYQM and FORMATQM are shareware programs. If you use them be sure
  44. to register with the author. They DO NOT accept phone calls for help
  45. from unregistered users. Note only version 3.x of COPYQM runs under OS/2.

  50. The images for COPYQM for 3 1/2 inch HD disks are included in the
  51. directory \OLB\MASTERS\IMAGES. These are grouped by prefix in this
  52. directory. The suffix is our internal part number and also serves to
  53. organise each series.

  104. DISK IMAGES for the MAC Online Bible

  106. The COPYQM images for the SCHOLAR's PAK for 3 1/2 inch HD disks are
  107. included in the directory \OLB\MASTERS\MACIMAGES. Using COPYQM you can
  108. make 3 1/2 HD masters for MAC machines. These are grouped by prefix in
  109. this directory. The suffix is our serial number for multiple disks in the
  110. same series and serves to organise each series. Note that the LEXICON.002
  111. disks contains the files for TOPICS.003, TSK.003 and SCHOLAR.004. When
  112. installing on a MAC insert the LEXICON.002 disk to complete the TOPICS,
  113. TSK and the SCHOLAR series installation.  This was done to reduce the
  114. number of disks required for distribution.

  116. The Mac masters are made up of two 720K archives on one 1440K disk.
  117. Use your Mac to recreate 720K masters from the 1440K disks.

  119. MAC Transfer Program
  120. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  121. The subdirectory \OLB\MASTERS\MACSEE contains an IBM PC program "MACSEE"
  122. that reads and writes MAC disks on an IBM PC.

  124. Source Files for Translations

  127. These are stored as directories of files under the directory
  128. \OLB\MASTERS\TEXTS as DOS files. The following describes the directories.

  130. AV    - A subdirectory containing the exact 1769 Authorised Version text
  131.         in plain ASCII format in 66 files.
  132. DARBY - 1890 Darby translation in LHARC format
  133. YLT   - 1898 Young's Literal Translation in LHARC format
  134.  
  135. Others will be added in future releases. For example to expand YLT type
  136.

  139. This creates 66 files in LHARC format which in turn must be expanded.
  140. LHARC.EXE is stored in the texts directory.

  142. Disk Labels
  143. ===========

  145. The file \OLB\MASTERS\LABELS.EXE contains a self extracting file of the
  146. labels we use for out disks. Not all the labels are valid since some of
  147. those versions are not for general distribution.  Expand this file into
  148. the directory \AVERY\JOBS. We are using Avery Label Pro Version 1.61 to
  149. make our labels on an HP III laser printer. Use Avery form 5160 or
  150. equivalent for your labels. Order the Avery Label Pro program from:

  161. We buy all our disks from "International Media Supplies Inc.". In US and
  162. Canada call (800) 835-5515 or (702) 826-4394 and ask for Kevin O'Donnell
  163. and mention that Larry Pierce referred you to him. Buy only unformatted 70
  164. per cent clip or better disks. These are much more reliable than what you
  165. see advertised in Computer Shopper by discount houses. They cost a few
  166. pennies more but your bad disk problems will be almost eliminated.
